Affiliate marketing is just like any other business, except it has a bit of a cyber twist. You still rely of the same basic marketing methods and strategies. The biggest challenge with affiliate marketing is that there is a greater level of competition. This is why it’s important for you to stand out from the crowd in every possible way to get that most wanted sale. This article will offer 4 tips that can help you drive traffic for your business, and increase your overall profits.
1) Set the table: in order to secure your piece of the affiliate marketing pie, you need to know the wants and needs or your customer’s lifestyle. You don’t want to waste your time trying to sell operatic CDs at a Little League game or catcher’s gloves at the opera. Instead you want to pick the marketing methods that best suit your targeted niche. For example, if you are trying to sell those catcher’s gloves, you are going to want to have a baseball themed site and your content is going to be based on the interests of base ball fans. You also need to consider the experience level of your target market. Or maybe someone that has a great deal of knowledge in your product? For you to be able to sell something through your site, you need to have content that is targeted to the people who want to buy what you are offering.
2) Earn Money Using CPA Programs – Alternatively, you can also earn money from your site using “cost per action” programs which are often referred to as as pay per lead or PPL. You need to join a CPA network to be able to promote their offer. Simply Google “CPA network” to find a bunch of these. Again, you’re not selling anything here, because you make money on a certain action your visitor takes. The action could be clicking a link, or signing up on some form, but regardless of the action, if your customer does it you will earn money. The CPA market is growing right now, and there are many courses being offered that can teach you how to find and join these networks, as well as how to make money by promoting offers. It will require a lot of work and time to learn everything, but you can make a bunch of cash with this system.
3) Build Your Own Email List – When you sell an affiliate product directly by sending traffic to the vendor’s page, you are building THEIR email list instead of building your own. Plus, most people do not buy the first time they are exposed to something, which means you lost the chance of making a sale if this was a person’s first visit. By slowly building your own email list, you stand a bigger chance to turn your visitors into buyers because you can market your affiliate products to your list again and again until they buy. You can also increase your profits by getting repeat visitors to other related offers.
4) Sell Internet Marketing Memberships – You can also make money by selling memberships to Internet marketing membership sites that offer affiliate programs. There are tons of people today who are just itching to get into today’s internet marketing business, however they have no idea how to do it, which is why various training sites for it have been created. These memberships sites help people out by showing them how to make money on the internet and become financially secure. This really gives you a perspective on the success of this young and thriving market where people are most certainly willing to buy.
It’s quite simple to follow my strategies and make some money. By following these tips, I’ve been able to promote everything from computers to painting courses. So get on it right away.
Best Practices for Creating Your Affiliate Agreement (Merchant ABCs Basics for Affiliate Marketing)If your company has an affiliate program or is considering starting one, this is a must read. *This is a transcription from a podcast roundtable discussion* This discussion includes affiliate marketing experts that have all spoken at Affiliate Summit, the largest affiliate marketing conference in the US.Eric Nagel is an experienced affiliate marketer that consults with merchants before he will run their offers. But we aren't here to sell you anything, we just want merchants to have better affiliate agreements so that both the merchants and the affiliates that want to promote them are aware of the do's and don'ts.
Affiliate and Consultant Eric Nagel joins experienced affiliate managers (OPMs) Vinny O’Hare and Deborah Carney in a very important episode of Merchant ABCs. Many merchants are not aware that if they don’t have an Affiliate Agreement in place they are giving affiliates carte blanche to do whatever they want to promote your affiliate program. Eric joined us today to help explain to merchants both new and existing why they need a properly created affiliate agreement. Affiliates want you to have an agreement so they have guidelines and so they know that your affiliate manager and company have thought about the many ways affiliates can promote the merchant’s site. Affiliates will also assume that once you have an agreement in place that you will enforce it appropriately.
“If you don't write it down, if you don't say we can't do it, then a lot of times we're going to assume that we can. Affiliates are very imaginative. We're creative.”
- Eric Nagel
