The easiest way to write a report is to compile a list of five to seven tips, and write a few sentences on each one. If I were an affiliate for a book on resumes, I might write “5 Tips For a Better Resume.” Then I would leverage the report to lead the reader to my website which just so happens to be selling the resume book.

Thereafter, you will want to get the visitor’s e-mail address. There are two ways to do this. One way is to require that the visitor enter their name and e-mail address so that you can e-mail the free report to them. The other way is to require that the visitor subscribe to your newsletter prior to downloading the free report. One way or the other, you capture the individual’s e-mail address, and are able to contact them in the future with additional offers.

Finally, let people know about your report using a press release. Press releases are very straight forward. Essentially, you need to cover, “Who, what, when, where, why, and how.” You need to write to:

1. The individual “who” benefits from the product.

2. “What” the information is that you are providing.

3. “When” the information will be available.

4) Where the information is (ie. at your website).

5. Why the report was written in the first place.

6. How a reader will benefit from reading this report.

Yes, I know that taking these steps will take some time and effort, but I am telling you that it is well worth it. Just remember that with affiliate programs and affiliate networks, you get back what you put in. This holds true for any method of making money online. There is no such thing as passive income.
