The internet is a popular place to shop today, even when one isn’t looking to buy anything, they sometimes stumble upon something that they decide to buy anyway. This is where the magic of internet marketing comes into play. Putting your product and services online in places to catch the attention of someone is how you expand your customer base and create a successful business. Here are a few different ways to use internet marketing.

Podcasting – Lots of people are listening to podcasts today. These are audio clips available on blogs and sites with interviews, information, music, and a multitude of other things that interest visitors. Placing ads within a podcast will allow a company to target the audience they are going for. Companies should make sure they use podcasts that fit with their products or services, like if they sell musical instruments, a music podcasts would fit perfectly with that kind of advertising.

Social sites are popular also, millions of people use them today to connect, reconnect, and keep up with the world. This is a perfect setting for advertisers, as “fans” and “friends” of products is a big thing. Setting up a page about your product or service and allowing others to join that page permits you to keep in touch with your audience, informing them of deals, specials, and keeping your product on their mind.

Widgets are relatively new but their popularity is growing. They are found on social sites and communities and blogs. Advertisers are able to use them to their advantage by purchasing space on as many widgets as they want, to go on many different sites. This gets their ads out there to a variety of places and to targeted audience and potentially new customers.

Blogging – People are using blogs today, not just to share their opinions and write about whatever they want, but also for making money. Blogging has come a long way from personal journals and diaries; more people are using them and viewing them today than before. Companies can choose blogs that are popular with large followings to display their own ads and grab the attention of millions of people on a daily basis.

Online videos – Millions of people are sharing their home videos today, posting clips of shows, and music videos. Even television and news sites are airing portions of programs, or even whole programs online now. Companies can purchase “airtime” for these online videos, just like television ads.

There are very few people who use the internet today and don’t use instant messaging. Instant messages has replaced the telephone and in some cases email. People are constantly talking with each other and constantly using their messengers. This makes it a perfect place for advertisers to place ads. Some messenger programs have plug-ins, where the user of the program can choose to have a plug-in with a certain site displayed at all times. Companies, like auction sites, buy their own space on plug-ins in hopes it makes it easier for people to visit their site.

These are just a few of the ideas that can be used for internet marketing and today’s technology is creating new ways every month to take advantage of. Creativity pays off with advertising, not just in the ads, but in placing them in the right locations. Setting up a strategy and researching where target audiences hang out online can help a company increase their business and draw in new customers daily.
