I cannot believe that only twelve months ago (February/09) I hadn’t built a single web site and did not know where to begin.
In Feb.09 I decided there was a huge opportunity on the net for offline business owners. So I started researching designing sites.
My first foray into online marketing was before Feb./09 when I actually paid for two websites. The results were awful; I received no traffic to my sites. I lost money.
Little did I realize that there are so many options for building your own websites. I hunkered down and built several “practice websites” to see what was best for me. In the end I chose WP.
My top 12 reasons business owners should learn and use WP for their business sites.
1. Take control of your online marketing. I quickly tired of counting on someone else to get my blogs right. If you can create internet websites, then you can plan your entire online campaign.
Two. Cost-savings: stop spending thousands any year on new blogs and/or search engine optimization. It’s not hard to learn and once you understand Search engine optimization, you can do it right way for your business.
3. After researching how some business owners did so well going on line, I understand that I too could enjoy huge growth going internet in a big way. I was right; I’m growing big time as a result of my aggressive online marketing campaign.
4. Moving into WP specifically. WordPress itself is free to use as much as you want. Every you need to pay for is hosting which costs less than 10 dollars per month. Most hosting give you unlimited website hosting. It’s peanuts.
5. Speed. Once you are familiar with WordPress, you will be able to create sites very quickly.
6. WordPress is open-source; many people contribute every kinds of cool functions and designs to it – much of it free. It’s an ever-evolving platform that is developing exponentially. Arguably, the WP community is driving site design.
7. Unlimited capability. You want a contact form, pick from numerous free designs. Want twitter widgets – start shopping. The point: you can add in every kinds of cool functions that cost you nothing or very little. There are plugins for almost every need.
8. WordPress is easy-to-use. The WP dashboard and most themes are pretty intuitive to use. You don’t need to be a computer programmer at every. The hardest part I found was installing WP.org. Once that is done, the rest is pretty simple.
9. SEO for WordPress is both excellent and easy. The search engines like WordPress (at least that’s what I’ve read; I must say my web sites do well). Best of all, the SEO plugins and/or SEO-ready premium themes make optimizing your WordPress internet site a breeze.
10. Versatility. Whether you want a traditional business site, blog, online store … you name it, you can create it in WP. Look for the type of theme you need – you’re bound to find exactly what you need.
11. Content Management System. WordPress started as publishing platform. It’s ideal for adding and creating tons of content. Since my internet websites are content-centric, WordPress is perfect because I quickly and easily add content.
12. Stunning premium themes available for clean, high-performance, and fabulous looking websites. Even though these themes cost money, it is fraction of other website builders and hiring site designers.
After less than a year of building websites for my business, these are my twelve reasons why it was crucial for me, an entrepreneur, to learn and build my own WordPress web sites.
